In an interview with Sport Bild (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich’s future CEO Oliver Kahn addressed the elephant in the room surrounding his club’s goalkeeper situation.

Specifically, Kahn addressed the rumors that the Bavarians might be willing to loan out or sell prized prospect Alexander Nübel.

“In Alexander Nübel, we signed one of the biggest goalkeeping talents in Europe. We need excellent goalkeepers,” said Kahn. “We have a new coach & big goals. We’re not thinking about letting Alexander go at the moment.”

Kahn, a legendary goalkeeper during his playing days, was then asked if incumbent starter Manuel Neuer should give up a few starts to help make things more palatable for the young and eager Nübel.

Kahn did not sound overly optimistic that Neuer was quite ready to cede any playing time to his heir apparent.

“I think Manu is even more ambitious than I was,” said Kahn. “He prefers to always play. He’s world class and unique.”
