If there is one player who has seized the opportunity on the pitch this season, it has been Bayern Munich youngster Jamal Musiala.
Recently, Musiala has out-performed his highly-touted teammates Leroy Sane, Kingsley Coman, and Serge Gnabry to become the team’s most consistent player on the wing. While we don’t know if Musiala could maintain the same production over the course of the full season, the talented 18-year-old has clearly put his name at — or at least near — the top of the wing depth chart.
For that effort, Musiala was voted Bayern Munich’s “Player of the Month” in April:
Jamal Musiala impressed in April and the FC Bayern fans clearly agreed, voting the young star their Player of the Month for the first time. The 18-year-old attacking talent received just under half of the votes cast in the poll (47%), surpassing Thomas Müller (15%) and Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting (15%).
Musiala’s meteoric rise seems to have no end. The youngster only made his debut for the German national team in March and then took this momentum with him to Bayern. In six competitive games in April, the dribbling supremo scored three goals, including two in the 3-2 win at Wolfsburg on Matchday 29, which made him the youngest FC Bayern scorer of a brace in Bundesliga history.
It will be fascinating to see if Hansi Flick continues to ride the hot hand (foot?) of Musiala for the season’s final two fixtures.
