According to The Daily Express, Bayern Munich is among the teams interested in Wolfsburg winger Josip Brekalo.
The 22-year-old Croatian has a contract with the Wolves though 2023, but his ability to impact games as an inverted winger has several top clubs eyeing him:
Everton and Leeds are among those to have watched Wolfsburg winger Josip Brekalo in the past few months. The 22-year-old, who is renowned for his ability to cut inside and shoot from range, is attracting interest from the Premier League following a stellar campaign with high-flying Wolfsburg.
Brekalo has found himself linked with a move to Liverpool in the past few weeks. However, Express Sport understands that the Reds’ alleged interest in the Croatian is wide of the mark. Despite that, Merseyside rivals Everton are among a host of clubs to have watched Brekalo of late. Leeds, Napoli and Bayern Munich are among a list of other clubs tracking the prospect, who has drawn comparisons to Dutch legend Arjen Robben.
Brekalo is a great talent, but the feasibility of Bayern Munich being able to pay for such a player this summer is highly in doubt. There is, however, a history between the Bavarians and Brekalo, which dates back to 2016.
In the end, however, timing is everything. With Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala, and Leroy Sane already manning the flanks — and a new manager who might not even use wingers in a traditional way — it just seems unlikely that Bayern Munich would be in the running for Brekalo this summer.
Brekalo has seven goals and four assists in 32 games across all competitions this season.
