According to a report from L’Equipe (as captured by Abendzeitung), Bayern Munich proposed the most lucrative deal to Paris Saint-Germain free agent Julian Draxler, but the Germany international will ink a new contract with Les Parisiens:

Several top clubs from England and Italy were recently interested in a transfer-free commitment of the German national player, but the best financial offer is said to have been made by Bayern. According to the report, Draxler has rejected all offers and will even accept a cut in salary for the extension with Paris.

Bayern Munich certainly could have offered Draxler a key spot on the roster — but probably not a starting role. Draxler’s versatility is his strongest asset, as he could have conceivably played either wing position or any midfield position with Bayern Munich.

Tz provided more context on the deal:

According to reports, Draxler is currently collecting around seven million euros. He was ready to cut his salary in order to stay in Paris for three more years. After all, he feels very at home there.

Whatever the case, Draxler is a lightning rod for discussion in the Bayern Munich fan community. On a free transfer, however, the Bavarians certainly could have done a lot worse.
