Oliver Kahn gives vague response when asked if Julian Nagelsmann will have transfer input at Bayern Munich

It has been a burning question, but not one that Oliver Kahn wants to be clear on right now.

With Hansi Flick set to leave Bayern Munich in the coming weeks, there has been a lot of focus on just how say a coach should have in squad planning at Bayern Munich.

Flick’s lack of power in the board room was reportedly a sticking point for him and one that he just could not overcome as Flick’s vision for the Bayern Munich roster varied greatly from sporting director Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidzic.

Naturally, the big question is if incoming boss Julian Nagelsmann will be able to tilt the balance in his direction upon his arrival in Bavaria. According to Bayern Munich board member and soon-to-be CEO Oliver Kahn, however, things might not be much different...or will they? It is tough to tell.

Anyway, here is what Kahn said when asked directly about how much sway Nagelsmann will have with squad planning and transfers:

“It was always a communication. In the end, the club decides, but it’s always a conversation,” said Kahn. “A coach always wants the best players, a sports director also has to look at other things.”
