With Bayern Munich trailing in a crucial Champions League tie against PSG, all the annoying rumors are coming out of the woodwork. The current trend is to speculate on the future of Hansi Flick, and whether he will actually continue as coach after this season. Despite winning the sextuple, it’s been reported that Flick is seriously reconsidering his role at Bayern, mainly due to disputes over transfers.
If the unthinkable were to happen, one name that is one everyone’s lips is that of Julian Nagelsmann. The RB Leipzig coach is one of the hottest properties on the market right now, and he’s known to be a fan of Bayern. Now, former technical director Michael Reschke has revealed (via Sport Bild) that Uli Hoeness negotiated with Nagelsmann a far back as six years ago. Back then, virtually an unknown, the young coach was swayed to join Hoffenheim instead.
Given the success Nagelsmann has had since, it’s likely that his standing has only increased among the Bayern leadership. Reschke didn’t say that Bayern were planning a coaching change, but he was confident that, in due time, Nagelsmann will become the Bayern coach.
Will that happen as soon as this summer? Well, that could be up to Hansi Flick and Brazzo. If the two men are unable to settle their differences, a Nagelsmann coached Bayern Munich could become a reality sooner than anyone expected.
