Paris Saint-Germain’s dramatic and hard-fought win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League left fans everywhere wanting to see more of the two powerhouses going toe-to-toe.
For PSG, it was an enormous victory, but one that the players know must be appreciated temporarily and then forgotten. Wednesday’s 3-2 win over the Bavarians will not matter next week in Paris and both Julian Draxler and Kylian Mbappé are fully aware of it.
“We scored the goals at the right times. Bayern had more of the game,” said Draxler (as captured by FCBayern.com). “We were very effective up front. It was already very difficult and we were chasing back a lot. But we have the quality to score the goals up front. It was a good first step. But you saw Bayern’s quality. It will be a very tough second leg.”
Mbappé echoed Draxler’s sentiments.
“It was efficiency of the two sides that tipped the balance,” said Mbappé, who had a brace in the match, including the game-winner. “We converted all our chances and of course we were a bit lucky at the other end because Bayern had a lot of chances.”
