Despite the numerous missed opportunities against Paris Saint-Germain, Thomas Müller is still confident that Bayern Munich have what it takes to overcome their deficit in the return leg next week.
Speaking to the media following Bayern’s 2-3 loss to PSG, Müller was already prepared to move past the club’s poor defensive performance and put the blame on the offense for not scoring enough goals.
“We don’t need to discuss the goals we conceded,” Müller said. Today we left far too much to chance.”
Müller knows what Bayern is capable of on the field, and despite the poor showing in front of goal against PSG in the first leg, the Raumdeuter is focused on one thing and one thing only: advancing to the next round.
“Now our full focus is on the second leg. If we do like we did today, we’ll get as many chances as we did today. If we take advantage of those chances, we’ll make it through to the semi-finals. We’re convinced we can progress.”
With Bayern conceding three goals at home, it nearly-guarantees the Bavarians will need to win the return trip in France by at least two goals. It will be difficult, but if anyone can do it, it’s Bayern.
