Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidzic acknowledged Monday’s report from kicker which stated that center-back Jerome Boateng was officially notified by the club that his tenure would be ending after this season.
The news came about at a terrible time for Boateng, the club, and manager Hansi Flick, who was irate at the news leaking to the media. Regardless, Salihamidzic confirmed to Sky prior to the Bayern Munich vs. Paris Saint-Germain Champions League game (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia) that the towering center-back was notified about the club’s decision:
Hasan Salihamidžić confirms: "Jérôme Boateng knows that his contract won't be extended. He will leave FC Bayern from the big door, hopefully with titles" [Sky]

Boateng came on in the first half against Paris Saint-Germain for Niklas Süle, who appeared to be injured. Unfortunately, Boateng found himself matched up with Kylian Mbappe late in the second half and the veteran defender’s reluctance to challenge the phenom left an opening that Mbappe buried for the game-winning goal.
Regardless, Boateng clearly did not need this news coming out so close to such a huge game.
