Bayern Munich right-back Benjamin Pavard has a lot of friends on both sides of the Champions League match between his club and Paris Saint-Germain.
The French contingent at Bayern Munich is quite large with Pavard, Lucas Hernandez, Corentin Tolisso, Kingsley Coman, Bouna Sarr, and Tanguy Nianzou. That group will be seeing a lot of their friends when PSG takes the pitch at the Allianz Arena — including Kylian Mbappe.
“He is a world-class player. He is my friend, but (today) he will be an opponent. But other players can also make the difference,” said Pavard (as captured by Tz). “It’s 50-50, two big teams. We have to give the answer on the pitch and stay focused.”
When asked if last season’s Champions League finale was a topic of conversation during the last international break, Pavard said that it did not come up and that France was solely focused on working together as part of the national team.
“We didn’t really talk about it because we had important games with the national team,” Pavard said. “For them it will be like a revenge because we had won the final. But we are very calm and want to get two wins.”
