Bad news for Bayern Munich fans, Serge Gnabry has tested positive for COVID-19. This has been confirmed by Bayern’s official website. Oddly enough, this is not the first time Gnabry has tested positive for the virus, with a false positive test for the winger coming in November.
The winger is now in quarantine and will unfortunately miss Bayern’s Champions League match vs PSG. While many speculated that Gnabry might have started as striker in this crucial match, it now appears as though Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting will likely start up front for the Bavarians. Furthermore, now, Jamal Musiala will likely be the first offensive option off the bench for Bayern.
With both Lewandowski and now Gnabry unavailable, Bayern’s offensive options run thin. If another one of Bayern’s offensive core was to be ruled out, it could spell problems for Bayern. What is sure, is that Gnabry is a big loss for the side, even if not currently as a starter, but an explosive force off the bench. Bayern’s already tough Lewandowski-less few weeks, just got even harder.
