UEFA have appointed Spanish referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz to officiate the Champions League meeting between Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, which will be played on Wednesday at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern have previously played four matches under the supervision of the Spaniard with the most recent one being the 2019/2020 UCL semi-final against Olympique Lyonnais. The Germans have lost only once out of the four times – unfortunately, it was the 3-0 defeat against PSG in the group stage back in 2017. The other two games were against Benfica (0-2) in 2018 and Viktoria Plzen (0-1) in 2013 (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia):

Both teams have mixed memories regarding their prior meetings with Lahoz. When it comes to Les Parisians, the memory of the group stage victory against the reigning champions is definitely refreshing.
Although, Paris fans would not be totally content with the appointment since it was Lahoz who officiated their Round of 16 first leg against Borussia Dortmund, which they lost 2-1. He also oversaw their home defeat in the group stage against Manchester United earlier in this tournament.
