The transfer rumor linking Bayern Munich to Real Madrid star Lucas Vazquez has run the gamut from the Bavarians being “very interested” to having “no interest” to now listing the Bavarians as “observing the situation.”
Here is what we know:
- Vazquez is a free agent after this season.
- Vazquez can be a depth piece at right-back and right-win — the type of versatility Bayern Munich covets.
- Vazquez probably comes with fairly high wage demands.
- Bayern Munich is allegedly in the hunt for a Bouna Sarr replacement.
So where does that leave the Bavarians in relation to Vazquez at this point? Sport1 report Florian Plettenberg is reporting that Bayern Munich is not negotiating with Vazquez, but is “observing the situation”:
Update #Vázquez: #FCBayern ist still in contact with the mgmt. of the player! No negotiations so far but they are observing his situation. He is a free agent in summer & interesting for the club because he can play everything on the right side and he is experienced. @SPORT1 https://t.co/ikQSIPCiiq

It would seem that this is the kind of transfer that Bayern Munich would chase given the relatively cheap cost (just wages), the versatility of Vazquez, and the likely short-term engagement of just two years or so.
