Retired Bayern Munich player Sandro Wagner had some comments on his former manager becoming the new coach of the Bavarians. Wagner has ties to Munich, where he was born, and made his first footballing steps. But with Julian Nagelsmann, he enjoyed great success in Hoffenheim.
If you missed it, Bayern Munich made Julian Nagelsmann the successor of Hansi Flick for the upcoming season, and the world of football is buzzing over the latest news.
Wagner was the latest guest for today’s edition of the Bayern insider podcast, where he talked about Nagelsmann.
Sandro Wagner: "I think Bayern and Julian Nagelsmann are a very good fit. Bayern have young players and are looking for a long term coach. Julian is technically and tactically a great manager and is also an empathetic person" [Podcast Bayern Insider, @cfbayern] pic.twitter.com/Q978yOlGDF— Bayern & Germany (@iMiaSanMia) April 27, 2021
Many fans are worried whether Nagelsmann is the right man for Bayern. Nagelsmann is still very young for a football coach, and Bayern’s squad is packed with stars. But, Wagner thinks that won’t be a problem.
Sandro thinks that most of the difficult to deal with players are gone and that the newer generation of Bayern players is much easier to deal with. Sandro explains that Nagelsmann probably had some contact with the players already. It also helps that Nagelsmann trained Serge Gnabry at Hoffenheim.
All in all, a good move for Bayern to find a worthy substitute for Flick.
