Breaking: Julian Nagelsmann has asked RB Leipzig to break his contract to join Bayern Munich

It looks like things are starting to clear up for a Julian Nagelsmann-to-Bayern Munich move, but a big transfer fee is still be a roadblock.

According to a report from kicker, Julian Nagelsmann has approached RB Leipzig management and asked the team to terminate his contract. If true, this would be a huge step in Bayern Munich effort to sign the talented manager:

Julian Nagelsmann is about to move to FC Bayern. According to kicker information, the 33-year-old coach from RB Leipzig asked the club management of RB Leipzig to terminate his contract, which was dated until 2023, early.

RB is demanding a transfer of 25 million euros from the German record champions, for whom Nagelsmann is the preferred candidate as the successor to Hansi Flick. Such a transfer has never been paid for a coach in the Bundesliga.

The agreement of both sides can be expected soon and therefore before the Leipzig DFB Cup semifinals on Friday (8.30 p.m., LIVE! At kicker) at Werder Bremen. Nagelsmann had always emphasized that an early change would only be considered with the consent of RB.

The roadblock with a Nagelsmann-to-Bayern Munich move will be the fee, which has been rumored to be everywhere from €15 million to €30 million. This specific report has €25 million as the golden number. Nagelsmann’s contract with Leipzig ends in 2023.
