Bayern Munich II settle for draw after conceding last second goal

This one is going to be incredibly frustrating for the young Bavarians to accept.

Bayern Munich II conceded a last second equalizer in the 95th minute of the match against FSV Zwickau on Tuesday and had to settle for the 1-1 draw. The match has to be seen as a potentially devastating opportunity lost for Bayern II, and two huge points dropped in their question to avoid relegation back to the Regionalliga Bayern.

It was another big day of absences for Danny Schwarz and Martin Demichelis. They had to do without three players who were with the first team (Christopher Scott, Josip Stanisic, Maxi Zaiser and four injured players (Timo Kern, Malik Tillman, Lenny Borges, and Jamie Lawrence).

Sarpreet Singh scored in the 35th minute to give Bayern II the lead. They found diligently and hard for the remainder of the match and thought that they were going to be leaving Zwickau with all three points. Unfortunately, in the 95th minute of the match, Steffen Nkansah outjumped Nico Feldhahn on a last-chance free kick into the box and netted the equalizer. Just like that, two points evaporated.

Bayern XI: Hoffmann - Waidner, Che, Feldhahn, Lungwitz - Stiller, Rhein (70. Welzmüller), Singh (90. Kühn) - Sieb (46. Günther), Arp, Oberlin (75. Jastremski)

The point means that Bayern II remain in 16th place in the 3.Liga table. They’re out of the relegation zone, for now, thanks to a “-5” goal difference to Kaiserslautern’s “-6”. Both clubs gave up stoppage time equalizers this week.

Bayern II will next take the field on Monday, April 26 against 7th place FC Saarbrücken. When the two sides met back in December, Bayern II pulled out a 2-1 win.
