After Bayern Munich’s 2-0 victory over Bayern Leverkusen, star midfielder Joshua Kimmich was asked about head coach Hansi Flick’s impending departure from the club.
Kimmich, who is among the many players able that have raised their respective levels of play under Hansi Flick, took some time before answering the question. When Kimmich did, however, he left no doubt about how he hopes the whole situation shakes out.

“There has always been unnecessary discussion, even though we have played so successfully,” Kimmich said (as captured by Tz). “I hope if there’s a chance and if it happens, that he will take over at the DFB.”
With Joachim Löw exiting after the European Championship, it is not necessarily a secret that Flick would love to take over that position — and that the DFB would absolutely love to have Flick be the Bundestrainer.
With the DFB, Flick would surely get more say in personnel decision, which was the genesis of his issue at Bayern Munich.
