David Alaba has agreed to join Real Madrid beginning this summer, accord to Sky. Alaba will sign a five year deal with Los Blancos that will keep him in Spain until the summer of 2026.
This ends a multi-year saga, where Bayern continued to throw money (which he has rightly earned) at Alaba and his advisors in an attempt to get him to extend with the Bavarians. The Austrian, however, was long linked with a move to Spain, and it appears that is finally coming to fruition.

This will be a blow to Barcelona who thought they were in with a chance at securing Alaba’s services. The veteran, who will be turning 29 years old this summer, has instead opted for their arch-rivals.
One must wonder if Bayern’s rumored pledge at the last extension that Alaba would get a shot to play in the center of midfield which never came to pass has played any part in his decision to leave Munich. Still, we salute Alaba for his decade plus service to Bayern and wish him all the best in the future.
We’ll bring you the news when it’s official.
