There was a lot going on over the course of the last week that could have distracted Bayern Munich manager ahead of Saturday’s Bundesliga match with RB Leipzig.
The fixture holds major title implications, but Bayern Munich fans don’t have to worry that Flick lost focus while thinking about Robert Lewandowski’s knee injury, Germany three-ring circus against North Macedonia, or anything else.
“My focus is on the game against Leipzig. Everything else is not important to me right now,” said Flick at his weekly press conference (as captured by FCBayern.com).
As for his player, Flick is not worried that the Bavarians will feel sorry for themselves knowing that Lewandowski will not be a part of the lineup.
“The crucial thing is to go into the game with the right attitude. We have players who have often shown themselves in such games,” said Flick. “In a game like this, of course, a bit of luck is always important. Before the international break, I was very pleased with how we played. That’s exactly what we need in Leipzig. Leipzig has very fast players. At this level, it’s important that every player delivers his top performance.”
For Flick, this time of the season is what he and his player have prepared for all season.
“We have the final spurt now. Every player knows that now in April and May are the weeks where a lot is decided,” said Flick. “It is a quality of our players that they are there on the dot. We’re building on that. We have to be that little bit tighter now and put everything into every game.”
