FC Bayern Frauen to hit the United States for The Women’s Cup

Bayern Munich’s women’s team will be playing in Louisville, Kentucky this summer.

Per a release from Bayern Munich, the club’s wildly success women’s squad will be heading to the United States for The Women’s Cup — a four-game, four-team tournament that will take place in Louisville, Kentucky from August 18th through August 21st.

The FC Bayern Frauen will be competing against Paris Saint-Germain, Racing Louisville FC, and the Chicago Red Stars in The Women’s Cup.

”FC Bayern is the world’s biggest sports family with an incredible following in North America. It is important to connect with our fans on their home soil whenever possible,” commented FC Bayern Munich President of the Americas, Rudolf Vidal. “We look forward to bringing our women’s team stars to Louisville and participating in the very-first Women’s Cup.”

The Bayern Frauen are in first place of Germany’s first division Bundesliga table and are in pursuit of its first league title since the 2015/2016 season. The Frauen have also advanced to the UEFA Women’s Champions League semifinals, where they will face Chelsea FC.

“Women’s football is very popular in the United States and is marketed very professionally,” said FC Bayern Women sporting director Bianca Rech. “We’re pleased that FC Bayern have the opportunity to present themselves in this market, as long as the pandemic allows, in the summer. The games in Louisville will also be a valuable experience for us as part of our pre-season preparations.”

The Women’s Cup’s will be played in two doubleheader sessions. First, on Wednesday the 18th, are Racing versus Chicago and FC Bayern against PSG. Then on Saturday the 21st, winners meet winners for The Women’s Cup trophy to go along with a third-place game.

For those looking to attend, ticket packages are extremely fan-friendly. The Women’s Cup is now accepting ticket reservations in two tiers, at $25 and $50, via Seating will be assigned closer to the dates as any stadium capacity restrictions are determined.
