Bayern Munich stars Robert Lewandowski and Niklas Süle made progress in their rehab efforts today at Säbener Straße.
Lewandowski was seen running on the training ground, while Süle jogged. Both players would have been valuable for the squad to have later today against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, but injuries ruined those plans.
Bild provided some details on the session for both players:
Super striker Robert Lewandowski (32) trained on Tuesday morning for the first time after his ligament strain in his right knee in soccer shoes — but still without the ball. The world footballer reported back on Monday and completed his first 30-minute running training session on Säbener Straße with rehabilitation coach Simon Martinello (36) in the snow. On Tuesday, he increased his workload. In addition to high-speed coordination exercises, there were also climbs over 80 meters on the program. “Lewy” pulled through the last 20 meters in a full sprint. However, changes of direction were not yet possible. After 45 minutes it was over. The hope for a faster comeback is growing!
As for Süle, the big fella is working to hopefully return against Wolfsburg:
On Tuesday morning, the central defender completed an easy running training session with rehab coach Peter Schlösser for the first time after his injury.
Coach Hansi Flick had not ruled out a deployment in Wolfsburg on Saturday. Flick: “We just have to wait and see how things develop every day.”
