Per a report from Sky, Tottenham Hotspur is in the driver’s seat to sign Bayern Munich center-back Jerome Boateng as talks between the two parties have allegedly already taken place:

According to Sky Info, Tottenham Hotspur is interested in signing the 2014 world champion. Concrete talks are said to have already taken place between the two parties. For Boateng, the Spurs would be the second stop in the Premier League.

He was previously under contract with Manchester City between 2010 and 2011. In addition, FC Barcelona is traded as a potential buyer. According to Sky Info, a move to the Catalans is unlikely.

FC Barcelona has reportedly already denied interest in Boateng and Sky also discounted the recent rumor linking Boateng to Borussia Dortmund. Sky transfer expert Max Bielefeld just does not think Boateng fits BVB’s profile:

“I can’t really imagine that BVB would want to bet on an older player like Jerome Boateng. He also has certain salary expectations. He would have to cut those extremely short at Dortmund. Besides, it is not Borussia Dortmund’s aim to bring such older players,” said Bielefeld.

The Daily Mail also chimed in on the matter and stated that Chelsea and Arsenal are also interested in Boateng, but are behind Tottenham Hotspur in the pecking order.
