Update: 10:40AM EST
As BFW captured earlier, Hansi Flick is one of the subjects for the DFB in its sudden hunt for a new manager. Now that Jürgen Klopp has removed himself from consideration (at least for now), Sport1 reporter Florian Plettenberg has doubled-down on his claim that Flick is the DFB’s primary target:
As I said: It's not about #Flick OR Klopp. It's mainly about Flick. @SPORT1 #Löw https://t.co/GHaCW3Orp6

Original Story
In light of the somewhat sudden and pretty shocking news of Bundestrainer Jogi Löw’s announcement that he will be stepping down following the conclusion of this summer’s planned EURO 2020, many across the world are attempting to place their say in who they believe will take over for Jogi Löw as the head coach for one of the most power footballing nations in the world.
While Jürgen Klopp has been a hot name for a while now, one that we have not seen much from is Hansi Flick. That, however, has changed as Bild’s Christian Falk and Sport1’s Florian Plettenberg both claim that Hansi Flick is THE guy to take over:
Jürgen Klopp AND Hansi Flick are the hot candidates for successors of Jogi Löw. The Bundestrainer of @DFB_Team will resign in summer @LFC @FCBayern @BILD_Sport

It must also be noted that in the same tweet Plettenberg posted claiming his belief that Flick is the choice, Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rumminegge is quoted as saying a Flick move to Die Mannschaft is “not an issue at all” from a previous interview:
Meine Meinung: Bleibe dabei, dass Flick DER Kandidat ist! Bierhoff hat sich bereits weit aus dem Fenster gelegt, Flick hat als FCB-Trainer alles erreicht. Beim DFB kann er einen Umbruch fortsetzen. Allerdings steht die Aussage von KHR aus meinem Interview. Meinungen? @SPORT1 pic.twitter.com/xNq6jhU8DX

“I have always said that the coach is the most important employee and that we have a contractual agreement that is well known. So that’s not an issue at all. We’re not going to solve the DFB’s problems. And to be honest: If I were a coach and switched from FC Bayern to the DFB, it would just make me smile.”
While it is too soon to truly know who will take over, there is no doubt that the rumors surrounding Hansi Flick’s status at Bayern will continue to flare up in light of Löw stepping down.
