It did not take long for Joshua Kimmich to see that Jamal Musiala had a chance to be something special with Bayern Munich.
In Musiala’s first training sessions, Kimmich could already note the skill and the creativity of the soon-to-be Germany international.
“Already in his first training sessions with us, you could see that he can really do something special,” Kimmich told Bayern TV (as captured by Bundesliga.com). “He’s full of tricks, unpredictable and also very dynamic when it comes to controlling the ball — especially with his first touch. He always tries to take the ball forward.”
For Kimmich, seeing Musiala at 17-years-old last year being confident enough to walk into Bayern Munich and show his talent was a sobering reminder of where he was at the same age.
“When I think about where I was at his age — I was still in my youth at VfB Stuttgart,” Kimmich said said. “He’s very advanced for his age. As a person, he’s very calm and reserved. I think he can and will look to come out of his shell even more as his self-confidence also grows.”
Musiala should count that as high-praise coming from Kimmich, who might just be the top midfielder in the world at this point in his career.
