If there has been one certifiable star for Bayern Munich during this international break, it has been left-back Alphonso Davies.
Davies has been an unstoppable force for Canada. In his squad’s 11-0 victory over the Cayman Islands, Davies had a brace, completed five of seven dribbles, and completed two of two long balls.
Davies was just one part of what was an utterly dominant victory for Canada.
“I think not taking the foot off the gas showed how connected this group is,” said Canada manager Jonathan Herdman said (as captured by the Toronto Sun). “We’ve been through some tough times together and I think we’re in a really focused place at this moment. The opposition is what it is, we were able to bring the best out of our players in these two games, given the circumstances. It’s a good foundation going into June and I can’t ask more from the guys.”
Earlier this week, Davies had three assists in Canada’s 5-1 win over Bermuda.
