Werder Bremen defender Marco Friedl was happy to see his name linked to Bayern Munich, but knows that he still has a lot of work to do on his game per Bild.
Before Bayern Munich signed Reading FC left-back Omar Richards, Friedl was among the many players that the Bavarians were eyeing for the role. A left-back by nature, Friedl has been played center-back for Werder Bremen, showing his versatility along the backline.
Regardless, the former Bayern Munich player was flattered that his old club was thinking of bringing him back.
“Of course, I know FC Bayern very well,” Friedl. “I still have a lot of contact with the players and played there for many years. That’s why it’s something nice.”
The Austrian does not mind the extra attention that he is getting these days as several clubs are reportedly eyeing the 22-year-old.
“It is by no means a burden,” Friedl. “I’m not going to let that drive me crazy. It’s part of the business. I feel very much at home here and I still have big goals this season. We’ll see what comes in the future.”
In assessing his own play, Friedl’s goal is become a more complete and consistent player.
“I want to minimize these fluctuations between a very good and a not so good game,” Friedl said. “I want to play at the same level all the time. I want to avoid such lapses. I would also like to take on more responsibility for building up the game. These are the points I’m working on.”
