Per a report from kicker, the field competing for Bayern Munich’s David Alaba has been narrowed down to a “final four.”

Included in the group are frontrunners Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, along with Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain:

It is not yet clear where Alaba will be heading in the summer. Even if a trend is clearly recognizable. Spain and La Liga always had priority when planning the future, “but we’re still talking to other clubs,” Alaba’s adviser Pini Zahavi told kicker. There are still four clubs to choose from.

At Real Madrid there is great confidence that Alaba will join Los Blancos. You are just before the finish line, it is said from Real circles. For FC Barcelona, with over a billion euros in debt, Alaba is probably too expensive. From now on, business has to be done economically in Paris as well, and Alaba is not on top of the list for another interested party, Chelsea FC. The Alaba party has not set “a deadline,” according to Zahavi.

It is clear that Real Madrid and FC Barcelona are the leaders in the clubhouse, but Real Madrid is probably the favorite. Los Blancos are allegedly in better financial shape to handle Alaba’s lofty financial demands.

It would seem that — barring a salary + bonus package that blows Alaba and Zahavi out of the water — the Austrian is really just choosing between the La Liga sides at this point.
