Robert Lewandowski’s status is in doubt for the RB Leipzig match.

Update: 2:30PM EST

Bild reporter released a tweet stating that there is hope “internally” that Robert Lewandowski will be ready for the RB Leipzig match on Saturday. In addition — if true — Lewandowski’s chances are estimated as 50/50 to be available.

As expected, Lewandowski will “try everything” to ensure he’s ready for the game.

Update: 8:15AM EST

Zbigniew Boniek chimed in on the situation with a tweet and thinks the timeframe will be closer to five days than ten days:

Don’t write nonsense. If the match with England was for the MS Title then @lewy_official he would probably be playing. In 5/6 days the problem will be over (doctors’ words and analysis). Please don’t panic ..

Boniek is head of the Polish Football Association and would seemingly have access to this type of information, but he is not a doctor nor Lewandowski — just about the only two sources who would know definitively what Lewandowski’s status for the weekend would be.

As for how this relates to Bayern Munich, there is no word on whether or not this would affect how they use Lewandowski against RB Leipzig on Saturday. It would not be shocking to see Lewandowski push himself to return for the match by any means. With the exception of Tanguy Nianzou, just about every other Bayern Munich player has defied the odds and returned early from injury this season.

The game itself is huge for Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga title hopes, but Lewandowski is also chasing Gerd Müller single-season goal scoring record.

Both of those factors will surely motivate Lewandowski to try and get back as soon as he can.

Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski picked up a knee injury on Sunday in Poland’s 3-0 win over Andorra and it looks like that knock could keep him out 5 to 10 days per Bild reporter Tobi Altschäffl.

Altschäffl released a tweet stating that Lewandowski could miss the RB Leipzig game with a ligament injury. Die Roten Bullen, of course, are Bayern Munich’s biggest contenders for the Bundesliga title. That match will take place on Saturday April 3rd.

Bayern Munich also plays Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday April 7th, which would seemingly be right around the window where Lewandowski could return if things go well with his recovery:

Robert Lewandowski leaves the national team prematurely due to a ligament injury on his right knee, no risk should be taken. Treatment of the injury takes 5-10 days. Bad news for the RB game, but overall the all-clear.

For Bayern Munich, this is a tough pill to swallow. Lewandowski is an integral component to the team and surely the team doctors and trainers will be working to get Lewandowski back to 100% as soon as possible, while keeping him healthy for the long-run.
