Last week during the hoopla surrounding the start of FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Joachim Löw dropped a little nugget that he was learning Spanish amid all of the other quotes and information that was released over the course of several days.
While it might not have seemed like a lot at the time, it apparently got the wheels spinning in the minds of a few folks — including FC Barcelona legend Xavi.
Speaking to Suddeutsche Zeitung (as captured by Marca), Xavi gave his full endorsement of Löw and called him a “luxury coach.”
“He is a luxury coach,” Xavi said. “He wants sparkle and attacking football, and he is a world champion. Löw has helped Germany develop a different understanding of football that reminds me a lot of what I know from Spain and Barcelona.”
Xavi also noted Löw’s “understanding the game” and “personality” were key attributes of the 2014 World Cup winner.
