Per a report from AS, Bayern Munich is in discussions to bring in Real Madrid right-wing/right-back Lucas Vazquez on a free transfer this summer:
Bayern Munich have moved ahead of the rest and have already approached Lucas Vázquez’s entourage to sign the Galician for next season. The player, who finishes his contract on June 30, has been waiting for several months for Madrid to improve his renewal offer, something that has not happened. Therefore, he has already begun to listen to offers and the German giant is now the one that has more options to get his services, as this newspaper has learned.
The report goes even deeper to state that contact has been “fluid” between Bayern Munich representatives and the player’s “entourage.” No final agreement has been reached, but negotiations have made “good progress” per AS:
The German team is convinced that he would be a great addition because of his versatility (he can play both as a full-back and as a winger) and that is why they have wanted to deal with the matter as soon as possible.
Lucas’ versatility appears to be a key aspect of Bayern Munich’s interest — plus his availability to move for free would be an added bonus. Lucas turns 30-years-old in July and might be able to provide depth at two positions, which would help give Hansi Flick some depth heading into next season when Douglas Costa will return to Juventus. With Bouna Sarr’s lackluster performance this season as well, Lucas could be the type of inexpensive, flexible option that Bayern Munich covets to cover two spots.
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are also rumored to be interested in Lucas as well.
If you were Brazzo and company...would you do it?
