The stage is now set for the Semifinals of the 2020-21 DFB Pokal Frauen.

On Friday, Bayern Munich rode a brace from Lea Schüller to a 2-1 victory over Hoffenheim who are currently third in the Frauen Bundesliga. After being bounced last season in the Round of 16, Bayern are back in the Semifinals.

The other matches were effectively massive blowouts. Wolfsburg (2nd in Frauen Bundesliga) trounced Werder Bremen (9th in Frauen Bundesliga) 7-0 thanks in part to a brace from Alexandra Popp. Freiburg (6th in Frauen Bundesliga) beat Turbine Potsdam (4th in Frauen Bundesliga) 6-3 led by Stefanie Sanders’ brace. In the final match, Eintracht Frankfurt (7th in Frauen Bundesliga) smashed second division side SG 99 Andernach 7-1.

The feature match of the Semifinals will be, of course, pitting the two best teams in Germany over the last several years against each other. While a definitive date hasn’t been set yet at this time, the two matches will be played on April 3 and 4.
