Arsenal starlet Emil Smith Rowe took a turn in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig when he left London on a loan assignment. However, the 20-year-old did not even have to leave England to be influenced by a Bayern Munich star.

In an interview with The Sun, Smith Rowe touted Serge Gnabry and how his legend continues to grow on the training ground with Arsenal.

“You can see how well he’s doing now and it just shows how you can come back from the setbacks you have,” said Smith Rowe. “Everyone talks about him at Arsenal, how good he was. He’s definitely a player I look up to.”

As for his time with Die Roten Bullen, Smith Rowe counts that period as a difficult stretch of his career.

“It was such a learning experience for me: going to a new country, learning a new culture and language, didn’t know anyone, living by myself at 18,” said Smith Rowe, who only played 26 minutes during his loan stint due to an issue with a growth spurt that put him out of commission for a stretch. “But it’s helped me become the player I am today and the person, especially. I don’t regret it at all. My German is not great, I’m not going to lie! I only know a few words. I always say a couple of words to the German players in the changing room and they’re always laughing at me!”

Smith Rowe, did however, have a better loan experience with Huddersfield.

“Huddersfield was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. It made me a lot stronger, physically and gave me so much more confidence with the games I played,” Smith Rowe stated.
