It was inevitable. Arminia Bielefield goalkeeper Stefan Ortega heard the rumors linking him to Bayern Munich and the 28-year-old German spoke openly about the possibility of moving to the Allianz Arena.
“I would probably always prefer the offer where I have the chance to play,” said Ortega to the kicker (as captured by Abendzeitung). “But we’re talking about Bayern Munich, one of the best clubs in the world. In the end, it’s also a question of weighing things up.”
Any potential move for Ortega, however, would likely have to be preceded by Alexander Nübel deciding to leave Bayern Munich on a loan assignment. Nübel, of course, turned in a solid performance against Lazio midweek, but will likely return to his role of backing up Manuel Neuer against VfB Stuttgart.
Should Nübel opt to head out on a loan, he will not have trouble finding a desirable destination that can offer immediate playing time. AS Monaco, Werder Bremen, and Hertha Berlin are among the club rumored to be willing to bring in the 24-year-old on a loan assignment.
