Per a release from the club website, Bayern Munich has signed 17-year-old midfield prospect Emilian Metu from SKN St. Pölten to a four-year contract.
Metu will move to Bavaria in the summer and is expected to play with Bayern Munich II in 3.Liga. If SKN St. Pölten sounds familiar, it is the same club where Bayern Munich just sent American prospect Taylor Booth on loan:
FC Bayern has signed a promising young player from neighboring Austria and has tied him for the long term. Emilian Metu (April 18, 2003) is coming to the campus for the new 2021/2022 season from the first division club SKN St. Pölten. The central midfielder has signed a contract with the German record champions until June 2025 and is initially planned for the second team.
Bayern Munich campus director Jochen Sauer was excited to bring in a quality prospect to bolster the Bayern Munich II roster.
“Emilian is a great talent in his position. We are happy that he has decided in favor of FC Bayern and wants to take the next steps here,” said Sauer.
Interestingly, Sauer also thanked SKN St. Pölten for “the good discussions and the excellent cooperation on this transfer, but also with the previous personnel matters. I hope we can continue to expand this mutually interesting collaboration in the future.”
Metu “stood out” during a trial in January at Säbener Straße, which sparked Bayern Munich’s interest enough to get a deal done.
