Just last week Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola began his mental warfare in declaring that Bayern Munich was the favorite to win the Champions League.
Guardiola has not backed down from that stance at all.
In fact, the former Bayern Munich manager explained his rationale in declaring why the Bavarians should be considered the best club in the world.
Sadly, he did not quote D’Angelo Barksdale and just say, “The king stay the king.” Instead, Guardiola talked about why both Bayern Munich and Liverpool are champions until they are officially dethroned.
“The best team in Europe and the world is Bayern Munich because they won everything. They are the best,” Guardiola said (as captured by AS). “In England the champions are Liverpool, they are the best. The crown, if you want to take it you have to win. In March, nobody is champion.”
While the logic is sound and Guardiola is not stating anything controversial, there is little doubt Guardiola would love to lull Bayern Munich into a comfort zone with his heaps of praise.
Luckily, Hansi Flick is there to keep everything balanced for Bayern Munich, which means that no matter how many times Guardiola says it, the Bavarians will have the steady hand of Flick to knock them down a few pegs if they get too full of themselves.
