Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich teamed with Leon Goretzka in the midfield to decimate Lazio in Wednesday’s Champions League match.
In picking up a 2-1 victory, Kimmich talked about how crucial capturing the win was for the team’s mentality.
“It was very important to us that we win today. We wanted to show that we want to win this game,” said Kimmich, who was outstanding in the match by completing 89% of his passes, making four key passes, completing all six of his dribble attempts, and winning eight of his nine ground duels. “Of course you have the first leg result in mind. We played that confidently. Especially in the first half we didn’t have many chances, but we didn’t allow anything either.”
The one part of the game that Kimmich was unhappy with was when his team conceded a goal. It was yet another match where Bayern Munich could not secure a clean sheet.
“Of course we would have liked to have kept a clean sheet, we have rarely succeeded in this this season,” said Kimmich (as captured by Tz).
