Report: Bayern Munich bringing in young American on trial

Bayern Munich’s pipeline to the United States keeps flowing.

Per a report from Paul Tenorio of The Athletic, Bayern Munich is set to bring in 19-year-old American teenager Jose Gallegos on a two-week trial.

Gallegos plays for San Antonio FC of the USL and was a finalist for the league’s “Young Player of the Year” award. Tenorio lists Gallegos as a “potential transfer” for the Bavarians:

Per Transfermarkt, Gallegos as three goals and four assists in 33 games across all competitions for San Antonio FC last season. Gallegos also has a market value of $110,000 per Transfermarkt as well.

Per San Antonio FC:

Gallegos made his SAFC debut last season in the U.S. Open Cup second round at home against the Laredo Heat, coming on in the second half as San Antonio progressed to the third round. (Gallegos) would go on to appear in 14 league matches (600 minutes) while recording a goal, assist and 11 chances created in 2019.

The San Antonio native has been involved in the SAFC first team environment since 2018 having previously participated in the club’s Elite Training Program. Gallegos has played local club soccer with Classic Elite Soccer Club, while also attending and playing for Central Catholic High School. While with Central, Gallegos served as team captain and won four straight TAPPS State Championships.

Gallegos has featured mostly as an attacking midfielder since making his USL debut.
