After dishing out an assist on each of the first two goals in Bayern Munich’s win over Werder Bremen, Thomas Müller spoke to the media about the match.

When asked about the reasons for their well-deserved victory, Bayern’s vice-captain stated that it was “through persistence and variability. We had a lot of aluminum today and should have won by even more.” With his comment about aluminum, Müller was referencing the three times that a Bayern shot hit the post. Had those three shots went in, the game would have been a lot more out of hand.

Müller was also asked about Robert Lewandowski and whether he was upset to come off in the the 79th minute. “I don’t believe so. Lewy knows how important he is. He fights every game for his goals, but when the coach says that he has to come off, he comes off. Otherwise it would cause trouble in the team.”

With his two assists today, Müller now sits at 13 assists in the Bundesliga this season. With nine matches left, he would need just eight assists to match his Bundesliga record that he set last season.
