Bayern Munich II coughed up a second half lead and fell to SC Verl 2-1. Bayern II will be extremely disappointed that they lost both matches to the newly promoted side this season.
Before kickoff, Sportschau reported that a member of Bayern II has tested for COVID-19. The player tested positive in the run-up to the previous match against Wehen Wiesbaden; however that match was played under proper health conditions according to the local health department. Bayern declined to comment to Sportschau.
After a scoreless first half, Timo Kern marked his return from injury with a goal in the 47th minute. In the 68th minute, after a mistake from Lukas Schneller, Mael Corboz equalized for Verl.
Then, in the 90th minute, Aygün Yıldırım headed home the winner for Verl. In the dying seconds of the game, Schneller saved a penalty to keep Verl from adding to their lead.

Bayern XI: Schneller - Waidner (90. Lawrence), Senkbeil, Feldhahn, Arrey-Mbi, Lungwitz - Welzmüller, Zaiser (78. Stiller), Kern (68. Singh) - Oberlin (78. Scott), Arp (68. Jastremski)
Despite the loss, Bayern II remain eight points clear of the relegation zone.
On Saturday March 13, Bayern II will host FC Magdeburg; however, instead of the Grünwalder Stadion, this match will happen at the Bayern Campus. This one-time “special permit” was allowed by the DFB, because there would be four games on the field in one week as Bayern II share the Grünwalder Stadion with 1860 Munich and Türkgücü Munich.
