When Joachim Löw announced he would be leaving his position as Germany’s manager after the European Championships, Bayern Munich and Die Mannschaft captain Manuel Neuer hit Instagram to give his coach a little praise.

Neuer also indicated that with the end of Löw’s tenure near the squad would do everything it could to bring home the 2014 World Cup-winning manager another major title.

Neuer posted an Instagram story featuring a photo of himself and Löw with the following statement:

Now there is one more reason for us to try everything we can to succeed in the European Championship. After this, an era comes to an end and I am very grateful to Jogi Löw for the time we spent together, from which, of course, the World Cup title stands out.

At times, Neuer’s dual role of captain of both Bayern Munich and Germany has placed him directly in the middle of some controversy — especially as it pertains to the exclusion of Thomas Müller, Jerome Boateng, and Mats Hummels.

Still, Neuer has also maintained a strong public connection with Löw and is sending all of the right messages to his national squad teammates and fans alike with his support of the outgoing manager.
