Michaël Cuisance started his loan spell at Olympique Marseille in impressive fashion, but things seem to have cooled down a lot. Cuisance has not had the most productive season and lost one of his biggest internal supporters when Andre Villas-Boas resigned from his managerial duties.
Now, it seems as if Cuisance would probably like to stay in France, but it does not look likely that Olympique Marseille will pull the trigger on its €18 million purchase option. This news will surely be a blow to many who were hoping to see Bayern Munich generate revenue through the sale of Cuisance and other loanees.
Tz’s Manuel Bonke tweeted that Cuisance’s future with Marseille will be determined later this month, but it was largely dependent on what kinds of plans new manager Jorge Sampaoli has for Cuisance:
Eine Entscheidung über eine mögliche Rückkehr von Michael #Cuisance von Marseille zum #FCBayern im Sommer fällt frühestens Ende März. Der Spieler will abwarten, ob und wie der neue OM-Trainer Jorge Sampaoli mit ihm plant. #FCBTransfersommer

A decision about a possible return for Michael #Cuisance from Marseille to #FCBayern summer falls at the end of March at the earliest. The player wants to wait and see if and how the new OM coach Jorge Sampaoli plans with him.#FCBTransfersommer
Bonke’s news seemed in line with report from French outlet L’Equipe (behind a paywall).
Sport Bild’s Christian Falk replied to Bonke’s tweet and did not sound overly optimistic that Olympique Marseille wanted Cuisance back as much as he might want to stay:
To be TRUE ✅: Derzeit hat Cuisance keine guten Karten bei @OM_Officiel dass der Klub seine Kaufklausel ziehen will. Bisher hat er sportlich enttäuscht

To be TRUE: At the moment, Cuisance has no good cards at @OM_Officiel that the club wants to pull its purchase clause. So far he has disappointed athletically
The situation is ongoing, of course, but it does appear that the #StepOverKing could be headed back to Bavaria in July.
