The union for professional soccer players playing in Germany’s top four leagues, or the VDV for short, just announced their recent awards for the previous season and in what should be no surprise to anyone here, Bayern Munich cleaned house.

Robert Lewandowski, already a recipient of the FIFA Men’s player of the year won the “Silver Shoe” for best player. Hansi Flick won the “Silver Bench” for coach of the year, Alphonso Davies won the “Silver Arrow” for newcomer on the year, and in a somewhat surprise twist, Joshua Kimmich finished a respectable third place on the “Shoe” vote, cementing his status as one of the Bundesliga’s top players, a fact that Bayern fans had been aware of for a few seasons now. Lewa, Davies, and Kimmich were joined by club captain Manuel Neuer and David Alaba on the VDV top 11, capping off a strong showing at the annual awards.

In addition to Germany’s professional players union, the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) also gave out their awards for the season with Bayern once again making a strong showing. In addition to being named Club of The Season, an award which captain Neuer accepted on behalf of his team, he was also awarded his fifth Best Goalkeeper award tying him with all time greats Iker Casillas and Gianluigi Buffon. Lewandowski won two awards for Worlds Top Goalscorer and Worlds Best Player and Hansi won Worlds Best Club Coach.
