Per a report from Sport Bild (print edition), Chelsea might have a very Bayern Munich-feel to its summer shopping list.

Thomas Tuchel is reportedly looking to make a big splash in the transfer market this upcoming summer with his new club. Just one year after pilfering Timo Werner from RB Leipzig and Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen, Chelsea could be eyeing even more Bundesliga talent: Bayern Munich’s Niklas Süle and RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano.

Obviously, Süle is considered to be a key member of Bayern Munich’s backline, while Upamecano is reportedly the top transfer target of the Bavarians for the summer transfer window. Interestingly, both players are represented by the same agency.

Per Sport Bild, Chelsea is not fazed by the recent news that Bayern Munich is making progress in its discussions with Upamecano. In fact, Chelsea is so undaunted that it won’t stop its pursuit of the RB Leipzig star and will add to its shopping list.

According to the German outlet, Süle is not happy that his fitness and attitude have been under scrutiny. In addition, Sport Bild went back into its archives to go back over a story Süle had interest in the Premier League.

Add all this together, and you get a mighty juicy rumor.

With an expiring deal in 2022, however, Süle is at a key juncture in his career. If Bayern Munich cannot or will not extend his deal this summer, it can be expected that the club will sell the big man as it does not want to risk losing him for free — like David Alaba’s current situation. Sport Bild speculates that a potential transfer fee could be €30 million, which seems low for a player who was regarded among the best in Europe just a little over a year ago.

Of course, a devastating knee injury has caused Süle some issues this season, but the first year after a major knee injury is always a tough period for players in any sport. Regardless, we will keep an eye on this story as it develops.
