Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick had much to be happy about after his team’s 5-1 win over FC Köln in the Bundesliga.
While the 56-year-old coach admired the immediate impact that both Serge Gnabry and Thomas Müller provided the team, Flick was even more impressed with the play of midfielder Leon Goretzka.
The 26-year-old Germany international had three assists on the day and played a key role both offensively and defensively for Bayern Munich.
“Serge Gnabry and Thomas Müller were very valuable for us today as substitutes,” said Flick (as captured by Tz). “Leon Goretzka did an excellent job preparing the goals. That’s why he was player of the day for me.”
It is clear that Bayern Munich is a much better and more complete team with Goretzka on the pitch. For a player that many observers had doubts about since he joined the club, Goretzka has more than proven his talent and value over the past two seasons.
