The Bayern Munich side which Hansi Flick selected today may have been the most consistent and well-performing team we’ve seen since the first game of the UCL Group Stage when Die Roten beat Atletico Madrid 4-0.

From the very start, Bayern’s pressing defense and relentless attacking overwhelmed I Biancocelesti to the point of exhaustion both mentally and physically. Lazio’s defense and midfield were error prone with two mishaps directly leading to goals for the visiting Bavarians.

In short, Lazio knew they were going to have a tough second leg in Munich and needed to step up to gain an advantage at home. They did not.

FULL TIME: S.S. Lazio 1-4 F.C. Bayern München
Lazio Stats:
14 shots, 5 SOG, 44% possession, 5 Yellow Cards, 4 saves
Bayern stats:
13 shots, 7 SOG, 56% possession, 2 Yellow Cards, 4 saves
Game Recap:
- Bayern’s attack and press were relentless from start to finish
- A number of costly mistakes from Lazio’s midfield and defense put them out of the game by halftime
- Standout performances from Süle at right back & Musiala and Sané in midfield made this arguably Bayern’s most consistent performance since their 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the Group Stage
