Things have not been going well over the past week for one of Bayern Munich’s primary rivals in the Bundesliga.
Borussia Mönchengladbach is winless in its last four league games (two losses, two draws) and also had to announce that its manager Marco Rose was leaving for rival Borussia Dortmund.
In addition, two of the club’s top players in Florian Neuhaus and Denis Zakaria have been rumored to have one foot out the door.
Neuhaus, who has been heavily linked to Bayern Munich, is not addressing his future at the moment, but did not make any type of commitment to Die Fohlen in a statement to kicker.
“I play at Borussia, I have a contract, and we as a club are still pursuing very big goals this season. I cannot currently say what will happen in the summer,” Neuhaus said to kicker (as captured by Abendzeitung). “I’m also very relaxed about the future. I know what I have in Borussia.”
The heavy rumors surrounding Neuhaus — and a Champions League showdown with Manchester City — certainly are not going to help matters at Borussia Mönchengladbach “re-group” this week as things appear to be very unstable at the moment.
While most stories point to Bayern Munich needing to raise funds to buy Neuhaus, it is believed by some that the Bavarians have the financial means to make the acquisition if they absolutely want to pull the trigger.
Neuhaus’ current deal with Die Fohlen runs through the 2024 season.
