In a move that has been anticipated for several weeks, Bayern Munich has reportedly signed Reading full-back Omar Richards. The move would be a free transfer that is executed in the summer transfer window.
Richards is one of several options at left-back that Bayern Munich had been scoping in an effort to find a back-up for Alphonso Davies. Other players that the Bavarians have been linked to over the past few weeks include Hertha Berlin’s Luca Netz, VfB Stuttgart’s Bourna Sosa, and Werder Bremen’s Marco Friedl.
With the reported acquisition of Richards, those other players will now fall off of Bayern Munich’s radar for the time being.
The initial report came from kicker, but Sport Bild chief reporter Christian Falk chimed in with his own brand of confirmation:
TRUE ✅ Omar Richards (22) to @FCBayern is a done deal https://t.co/6jhltQBfxW

With David Alaba expected to leave Bayern Munich this summer and Lucas Hernandez ready to shift over to center-back for next season, it appears the club is ready for the Frenchman to concentrate on that role rather than shift between positions.
That left a need for an understudy to Davies, which now might be filled if these reports are “True”, as Falk would say.
