Bayern Munich’s biggest winners and losers of the latest market value update

Serge Gnabry suffered his largest decrease in market value as many Bayern Munich players see losses in Transfermarkt’s latest Bundesliga update.

Earlier today, Transfermarkt adjusted the market value of the Bundesliga for the first time in 2021. Over 450+ players received a new market value in this massive update. You can check out all other updated values on their website.

Bayern Munich had quite the update this time around, with many players receiving losing some significant value. In fact, Bayern Munich’s squad value dropped the most out of any club. However, Bayern Munich holds the highest team value in the Bundesliga so it is of course prone to the biggest fluctuations.

Biggest Losers

  • Lucas Hernandez: €45m (-€5m)

Hernandez’s value has consistently dropped since holding a value of €70m for the entire course of 2019. At the age of just 24, there is still time to grow but he has not turned out as many Bayern Munich fans would have expected him to be.

  • Alphonso Davies: €75m (-€5m)
  • Douglas Costa: €12m (-€8m)

It is no surprise to see Douglas Costa’s value diminish in the newest update. At 30, and with his recent performances, there is a chance that we might not see that value increase ever again.

  • Benjamin Pavard: €35m (-€10m)
  • David Alaba: €55m (-€10m)
  • Leroy Sane: €60m (-€10m)
  • Niklas Sule: €37m (-€11m)
  • Serge Gnabry: €70m (-€20m)

Biggest Winners

  • Joshua Kimmich: €90m (+€5m)

Kimmich sits in third for the most valuable player in the Bundesliga, behind Borussia Dortmund talents Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland.

  • Leon Goretzka: €70m (+€10m)
  • Jamal Musiala: €24m (+€14m)
  • Kingsley Coman: €55m (+€15m)

There was only one player in this new update who received a higher increase in market value than Kingsley Coman, and it was Bayer Leverkusen’s wunderkind Florian Wirtz.

Squad Ranking

Gnabry loses his spot at #1, dropping down to a third-place tie alongside Leon Goretzka. Kimmich and Davies are now the two most valuable players for Bayern according to Transfermarkt. What is most impressive about Kimmich’s value is the fact that it has dropped only once since first being valued back in 2013. The reason for that drop was purely based on the global financial circumstances due to the initial outbreak of COVID-19. Talk about consistency!

Despite several Bayern Munich players receiving diminishing values, you can’t take these updates harshly. While it’s not a good thing that the players’ value has dropped, they are still very high. The best thing about these updates is that they happen multiple times every year. Hopefully, this will give some players that added drive they need to rediscover their form this spring.
