Bayern Munich will look to complete its quest for another trophy in the Club World Cup next week. The Bavarians will take a deep and powerful squad with them to Qatar (per Bundesliga.com):
Goalkeepers: Manuel Neuer, Alexander Nübel, Ron-Thorben Hoffmann
Defenders: Niklas Süle, Benjamin Pavard, Jerome Boateng, Bouna Sarr, Lucas Hernandez, David Alaba, Alphonso Davies
Midfielders: Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Marc Roca, Corentin Tolisso, Jamal Musiala, Javi Martinez
Forwards: Serge Gnabry, Robert Lewandowski, Leroy Sane, Douglas Costa, Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting, Thomas Müller, Kingsley Coman
Manager Hansi Flick will certainly have some talent at his disposal, but some notable omissions include:
- Joshua Zirkzee: Reportedly headed on loan to Parma
- Chris Richards: Reportedly headed on loan to Hoffenheim
- Tanguy Nianzou: Injured
The loan moves for Zirkzee and Richards are expected to be formally announced soon.
The inclusion of Alexander Nübel was also curious as the goalkeeper is currently injured. Perhaps Nübel will be ready in time for the competition. The Bavarians are slated to for their first game on Monday February 8th.
Bayern Munich previously won this competition in 1976, 2001, and 2013.
