Bayern Munich legend and soon-to-be CEO Oliver Kahn is a man whose intensity became legendary over the course of his playing career. One player who Kahn appreciates for his own brand of confidence and focus is Joshua Kimmich.
Kimmich, a world-class midfielder, is having another sensational season for the Bavarians and Kahn knows the 25-year-old is exactly the type of player a top-club needs to build around.
“Joshua Kimmich is even more ambitious,” said Kahn, when comparing the midfielder to himself. “You have to watch him in training. After the Champions League victory, he said, ‘Yes, now we have to win the Champions League with spectators, too.’ That says a lot. Those are exactly the players a club needs.”
Kimmich has four goals and 13 assists in 19 games across all competitions this season. In the Bundesliga, Kimmich has a league-leading 10 assists. Clearly, with his attitude and playing aptitude, Kahn is right — Kimmich is the precise kind of player that should act as a foundational piece for any club with championship goals.
